Member and DonorPrivacy Policy

1.  The Lithuanian Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) is a corporation organized under the General Not for Profit Corporation Act of Illinois,as amended, (the “Act”) and is qualified as tax-exempt under Section 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) of the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the “Code”).

2. The Foundation has a firm commitment to respect and protect the privacy of its members and donors as allowed for under the federal, state, and local laws including, but not limited to, the Act and the Code.

3. The Foundation does not sell “personally identifiable information”; however, the Foundation may engage in limited exchanges as described in number four (4) of this Privacy Policy.  “Personally identifiable information” includes a member’s or a donor’s name, postal mailing address, electronic mail address, telephone number, donation amount(s), donation date(s), bequest amount(s), and bequest date(s).

 4.  The Foundation’s Board of Directors may authorize an exchange of “personally identifiable information” with a not for profit entity which is qualified as tax-exempt under Section 501 of the Code.  The purpose(s) for such an exchange may include such things as updates to mailing list information as well as fundraising solicitations.  A member or a donor may be included within such membership list exchanges (“opt in”) by providing the Foundation explicit written notice to be included in such an exchange.

5.  Unless a member or a donor has provided explicit written instructions that a donation or a bequest shall be kept confidential, the Foundation may disclose the name, amount(s), and date(s) associated with a donation or a bequest.  Methods for disclosure may include, but are not limited to, press releases, advertisements, and web-site postings.

6. Nothing in this Privacy Policy shall be construed to preclude the Foundation from disclosing information in order to fully comply with federal, state, and local laws including, but not limited to, the Act andthe Code. 7.)  This Member and Donor Privacy Policy is effective on March 18, 2008.
