LF Scholarships

The Lithuanian Foundation values the achievements of academic youth of Lithuanian heritage and supports their academic advancement through its scholarship program, the largest of its kind. Since the Foundation's inception in 1962, nearly $1,000,000 in scholarships has been awarded to students attending post-secondary educational institutions in the United States, Lithuania and around the world.

Who is eligible to apply?

LF scholarships are not limited to a particular discipline or degree program, provided the applicant is a full-time student enrolled in an accredited, degree-granting college or university for a minimum term of one academic year. Some restrictions apply to students from Lithuania seeking undergraduate degrees in Lithuania and abroad.

2007 distribution of income for scholarships

The Foundation’s Board authorized the distribution of up to $600,000 during 2007.

The Scholarship Sub-Committee chaired by Tadas Kulbis,  and consisting of Sigita Baniulyte, Jurate Budriene, Vanesa Kaselionis, Juozas Polikaitis and Andrius Tamulis met May 13, 2007 to evaluate 118 scholarship requests. They recommended granting 81, totaling $124,338.

The Lithuanian Board of Directors,  during their June 26,2007 meeting, approved the grant and scholarship allocations. A second allocation will take place in the fall to distribute the remaining $6,520 for scholarships and $55,828 for grants.

THANK YOU, LITHUANIAN FOUNDATION!
"I am thankful for the scholarship from Lithuanian Foundation. After receiving B.S. (Summa Cum Laude) from Benedictine University, I am continuing my studies in the field of medicine. Thanks to the generosity of the Lithuanian Foundation members, my hard work and my goal to achieve a degree became a reality.  I’ve become a member of the Foundation, hoping that, in my own small way, scholarships will be available to other deserving students long into the future."
Monika Pociute

The Lithuanian Foundation deadline for 2008-2009 academic year scholarship applications is March 15, 2008. Only applications postmarked by that date will be considered by the LF Scholarship Committee for the year 2008-2009.
