Lithuanian Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship applications for the 2015 – 2016 academic year will be accepted  August 15 – October 10, 2015.

The Lithuanian Foundation believes that students who remain active in their community are developing leadership skills that will benefit those around them in the future.  The Foundation concentrates its resources on those students who have demonstrated an involvement and volunteerism in the Lithuanian community or in the community at large.  As such, the Lithuanian Foundation strives to ensure the continuity of the Lithuanian culture and traditions by contributing to the development of future leaders in the Lithuanian community.

Funding Priorities

The Lithuanian Foundation is an émigré organization. As such, priorities are given to students studying outside the borders of Lithuania. In some cases, donor members have established special funds to support areas of study in Lithuania proper.

  • “I received a response for assistance from the Lithuanian Foundation just before Christmas and it was the best gift that I received all year. THANK YOU! Studying cinematography has always been my dream of mine on whose path I set off four years ago. Although there are are many complex obstacles before me, some which may seem insurmountable at times, little by little I have been able to overcome these obstacles as I continue towards achieving my dream. It is certainly not an option to give up now. Your scholarship significantly contributes to the unrelenting pursuit of my dream. While living in the United States, I have discovered the Lithuanian culture alive and well and have gained a new perspective on my national pride. I have promised myself that I will strive to support future Lithuanian students seeking to pursue their own dreams, whatever they may be. My door will always be open to them. All my educational experiences have been little small miracles. I would like to thank the Lithuanian foundation, its sponsors and member, and send them my warmest holiday wishes that they continue to spread the goodness and light that they have shown me.”

  • I'm Kristina Buzaityte, former Kybartai Kritijonas Donelaitis high-school student, currently studying architecture at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. I'm very thankful to the Lithuanian Foundation and the Algirdas Kairaitis scholarship foundation for this encouragement! I'm very pleased and lucky that my school still remembers me and that people like you are encouraging those who want to know more. I would use this scholarship for the study equipment and tools, as they are expensive but necessary when modeling or drawing.”

  • “I'd like to sincerely express my gratitude to the Lithuanian Foundation and all of the donors involved for making grants to Lithuanian students possible. A generous scholarship from the Foundation has given me the financial freedom not only to focus on my passion in science and engineering during the school year but also to stay in New York for a research position during the summer, an opportunity that I have always dreamed of but which wouldn't be feasible without this assistance. I greatly appreciate the support for my academic goals that the Foundation is offering, and would highly encourage any other enthusiastic Lithuanian students to apply for these wonderful scholarships available through their heritage.”
